Abstract

This historical article traces the founding and development of Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), the continental Catholic broadcasting station established in Manila in 1969 to counter the spread of communism and evangelize Asia, and its 1990 creation of the Filipino Service Operation (FSO) to serve Overseas Filipino Workers, particularly in the Middle East. Using archival profiles, memoranda, and interviews, the author narrates RVA's early struggles, its restructuring through Asian bishops' summits, its complex relationship with the domestic Radio Veritas Philippines, and the FSO's underfunded but resilient decades-long ministry to migrant Filipino Catholics before its 2018 closure, situating the station as one of the FABC's enduring evangelizing legacies.
