The Research Agenda of Loyola School of Theology
Grounded in its Asian Theological Program (ATP), Loyola School of Theology promotes scholarly inquiry that critically engages theological questions arising from the diverse religious, cultural, social, and ecclesial realities of Asia, while remaining in dialogue with the wider global theological community. In fidelity to the vision of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC), particularly its commitment to the “Triple Dialogue” with cultures, religions, and the poor, LST envisions research that is contextual, dialogical, interdisciplinary, and mission-oriented. Such research moves beyond abstract or speculative inquiry to foster theological reflection rooted in lived human experience, attentive to the signs of the times, and pursued in a spirit of synodality.
While firmly grounded in Philippine and Asian contexts, LST’s research welcomes the contributions of diverse theological traditions and perspectives, including those from Europe, South Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Indigenous communities. This openness reflects the increasingly international character of the LST community and its commitment to fostering an inclusive and globally engaged theological discourse that remains responsive to local realities and the needs of the particular Churches.
