Abstract

Drawing on the author's volunteer experience with war-displaced refugees in Europe, this paper reflects theologically on human suffering caused by war through Christological, ecclesiological, and missiological lenses. It argues that Christ continues to be crucified in the suffering of today's displaced and vulnerable, and that encountering this suffering firsthand—rather than only through books or classrooms—is where theology and the Church's mission become most real.
